WHAT
Light changes our perception of the world. It’s integral to how we experience both the natural and built environment. As designers of the built environment, we all want our work to be seen at its best. We want it to be beautiful and perfect, like a picture.
Join me on an exploration of how we see light; how it accentuates the built environment; and how thinking photographically allows us to use light to enhance the built environment. By carefully considering and utilizing light we can create an enhanced impression and lasting memory which elevates the perception of our work.
During this discussion we will examine various photographs of buildings to evaluate how the quality of light affects our perception. Carefully considering the impact of light not only allows us to make better buildings, but also more beautiful photographs of those buildings, ensuring they both become enduring objects of art.
SPEAKER DETAILS
Dave Chance is a full service fine art and architectural photographer serving clients in the mid-Atlantic region and beyond. Dave fell in love with photography while studying to be an architect. After graduating from the College of Architecture at Virginia Tech, Dave spent almost a decade in the construction industry. His photographs are informed by both his architectural education and his construction industry experience, giving him a photographic edge in serving the AEC industry. Dave takes the time to understand and portray each building in the best possible light. With each project, his goal is to create beautiful photographs that reveal the subtle qualities of the design and construction.
