Program Title: Stormwater Awareness for Architects
Summary:
This session will provide a general overview of stormwater management implementation is it pertains to development and redevelopment in Virginia. We will begin by reviewing a stormwater “speak” handout with participants. Next, a brief overview of applicable regulations will be provided followed by a discussion pertaining to approved best management practices (BMP), BMP feasibility, and cost considerations. Finally, the importance of proper installation and compliance with the Construction General Permit will be presented.
Learning objectives:
1. Learn the lingo – definitions of terms and common acronyms
2. Develop an understanding of current stormwater regulations and requirements as they apply to development and redevelopment in Virginia.
3. Identify approved proprietary and non-proprietary structural as well as non-structural BMP options and the site conditions that effect BMP feasibility and implementation cost.
4. Understand the CGP and role and importance of construction inspections and SWPPPs.
