ARE 5.0 Prep Seminars Webinar - Project Development and Documentation

Each year the AIA Northern Virginia Young Architects Forum organizes seminars for those preparing to take the Architect Registration Exam® (ARE). Our award-winning series offers the opportunity to learn from a professional in each subject area and use that knowledge in preparation for the ARE. This year’s series focuses on ARE 5.0 content and runs from January to June. All ARE sessions offer continuing education credit and can be taken by members as review sessions.

Project Development and Documentation

This course is designed to help candidates prepare to take the Project Development and Documentation section of the Architect Registration Examination 5.0 (ARE 5.0). Project Development and Documentation is one of the six new divisions offered as part of ARE 5.0. The course content focuses on the integration and documentation of building materials and systems into a project, construction documentation and specifications, codes and regulations, and construction cost estimates.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will review how to translate design decisions into appropriate construction documentation for the constructability of a building and site.
  • Participants will examine how to integrate technical knowledge and information related to architectural systems and technologies, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and components, and structural systems to coordinate and refine a building design.
  • Participants will study how to integrate materials and building systems to meet the project design requirements through proper detailing, documentation, and the development of project manuals and specifications.
  • Participants will examine how to adhere to building and specialty regulatory requirements at a detail level and analyze construction cost estimates to confirm alignment with project design.

5 HSW LUs. Advance registration is required by noon on Wednesday prior to the seminar. No refunds are available after this time, although substitute attendees are allowed.
